A year later, she was pushed in the opposite direction, recording "The Dream Duet," operetta excerpts with tenor Sergio Franchi performed in a stylistic no-man's land somewhere between bad Broadway, bad Vienna and bad Hollywood. The soprano has better luck with light music on a 1964 solo album, "One Night of Love"; the songs and Skitch Henderson's caring collaboration better fit her talents and temperament.
