The New Orleans Opera Association's production of Johann Strauss II's "Fledermaus," staged by E. Loren Meeker and conducted by Robert Lyall, positively sparkled and fizzed in the most wonderful fashion at its opening at the Mahalia Jackson Theater, giving the company one of its strongest productions in recent memory. The opera was done in a polyglot version, with spoken dialogue in English and the musical portions in the original German.
