An Introduction to the Inclusion, Instruction and Inspiration Strategies of The Plumbing Factory Brass Band's Collaborative Community Connections

The Plumbing Factory Brass Band was founded in September 1995 to represent a late 19th century British-style brass band and to employ many instruments from my comprehensive collection. Another purpose was to train regional musicians (young and old, professional level and amateur alike) how to play instruments that they may never have seen before. In this article, I examine the mission of the Plumbing Factory Brass Band, my focus on its community connections, both within and without the ensemble, and how I engage the diversity both of its membership and of its audiences.
