In his music theatre production, Rudolf Kelterborn managed to reintroduce the long neglected narrative principle in the area of "Avant-garde" with productive results. In front of the lack of new productions including Kelterborn's music, Thomas Meyer recollects the opera "Der Kirschgarten" and discusses its form and language in relation to other music theatre concepts and in the context of its time.
